IN HOUSE BASIC ALIGNMENT TRAINING

This 3-day Basic Alignment course is designed for entry level technicians that are new to vehicle alignment concepts and procedures. The course consists of presentations and demonstrations along with extensive hands-on training. This class normally consists of 40% classroom and 60% shop instruction. Basic testing on alignment principles is included to track progress and to help the student understand the importance of a total wheel alignment.
 
After completion of this course the student should be able to:

  1. Understand basic suspension and steering component design.
  2. Describe the inspection and testing procedures for steering and suspension components.
  3. Understand basic automotive alignment angle concepts.
  4. Understand the purpose of vehicle alignment specifications.
  5. Explain why total vehicle alignment is needed.
  6. Demonstrate the proper procedure for measuring basic alignment angles.
  7. Describe the procedures needed to complete a basic vehicle alignment.
  8. Perform proper basic wheel alignment procedures on modern automobiles and light trucks.
  9. Understand basic procedures for installation of aftermarket alignment aids.

Class schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday.

 



IN HOUSE ADVANCED ALIGNMENT TRAINING

This 2-day Advanced Alignment course is designed for the technician that has been working with vehicle alignments for at least a year. The completion of the Basic Alignment Course is highly recommended.  This course consists of presentations and demonstrations that include 60% classroom and 40% hands-on instruction.  Advanced testing is included to track progress and to help the student understand the importance of a total wheel alignment.
 
After completion of this course the student should be able to:

  1. Explain why total vehicle alignment is important.
  2. Understand the concepts of advanced alignment angles such as Steering Axis Inclination, Scrub Radius, Bump Steer, and Vehicle Symmetry measurements.
  3. Explain how advanced alignment angles affect handling and performance of the vehicle.
  4. Demonstrate the proper procedure for measuring basic and advanced alignment angles.
  5. Understand the proper way to install original equipment and aftermarket alignment aids such as truck caster/camber sleeves, dual angle shims and strut camber bolts.
  6. Explain the issues involved when ride height is altered such as lowered and lifted vehicles.
  7. Demonstrate how to properly align lowered and lifted vehicles with modified alignment specifications.

 Class schedule is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Thursday and Friday.
